The ETC Source 4WRD is an attachment which changes the
existing Source Four tungsten fixture into a white-light LED alternative.
Rather than forcing existing Source Four users to dispose of their current
equipment, it actively encourages them to be resourceful by simply adding this
attachment which converts the HPL source into a white-light LED, resulting in a
significant reduction in power consumption. Having recently invested in the
product, we thought we’d take a quick look at its numerous features and explore
how it’s helping venues across the country make the gradual move from tungsten
to LED.
At WL, we have already received a fantastic response to the
Source 4WRD. WL’s Business Development Manager Jonathan Haynes explains: “For
many venues that might not have the budget to strip out their existing rig but
want to be as sustainable as possible, then the Source 4WRD is ideal. The fact
that it’s easy to use, is cost-effective, fits to any existing Source Four
fixture and saves a huge amount of energy are just some of the many features
that make it so appealing”.
The amount of energy saved by using a Source 4WRD is
undeniably impressive. The fixture
will use only 155 watts, be as bright as a 575W HPL extended-life
lamp and would save you 70% in power usage and 73% in heat output. It
will save the average theatre 18,396 kWh per year and is 77% cooler on the
surface when compared to tungsten. It also accepts two types of dimming
control, DMX or line-dimming.
The Source 4WRD is available in three varieties:
- 3000K 80CRI or 90CRI (Gallery) – This is perfect for any venue looking for a warm white light. It is available as a full 230V fixture or a retrofit for existing 230V Source Four fixtures.
- 5600K 90CRI (Daylight Gallery) – This is ideal for television studios, industrial trade shows, and other live events. This array provides the coolest, and brightest white light in an LED fixture and works with existing Source Four, Source 4WRD PAR, and Source 4WRD PARNel fixtures.
Another huge bonus of the Source 4WRD is its quick and simple set-up time. Jonathan explains: “A Source 4WRD can be retrofitted in less than a minute and requires just two tools. In most cases, it can even be done without breaking the fixture’s focus. It is also theatrically dimmable via DMX or line dimmable, with a raditional LED curve, to allow for complete flexibility”.
