Reputably
established as one of the world’s leading independent dance companies, Rambert
recently hosted their annual Winter Party at their London Studios. Technical production specialists White Light (WL) provided all lighting,
audio and AV solutions to transform the venue and heighten the special
occasion.
A Christie Boxer 30k
projector was used to bring the building’s exterior to life with moving imagery
of a dancer for upcoming production Aisha and Abhaya, welcoming guests as they
arrived. The event took place across multiple spaces throughout the building, so each one was
beautifully lit to create a party atmosphere.
The audio
requirements called for each space to have individual control with room
specific content, as well as link audio simultaneously across the two floors to
accompany live dance performances.
WL’s Senior Account Manager & Creative Producer, Richard Stirzaker comments:
“Rob Jones was our Lighting Designer for the project. Firstly, we provided
uplighting throughout the venue, to enhance the surroundings. Then to light the
guest route between floors we utilised Astera Titan tubes, an innovative new
LED product, which is the latest addition to our hire inventory. In the Linden
Studio, we rigged four truss towers for a combination of static and moving
units to add a dramatic layer to the live performances. The audio solution was
a d&b system in the main studio, complemented by discreet EM Acoustics and
QSC systems in the performance studios. Additionally, one of the walls in the
Studio was used as a canvas for video projection.”
Helen Searl, Development Director at Rambert adds: “The Winter Party is a new event in Rambert’s annual calendar designed to showcase Rambert’s world
class creative talent as donors, artists and invited guests were encouraged to explore, celebrate and respond to the space and dancers throughout the
evening. We
therefore wanted to work with a production partner whose expertise in full
service production would heighten the immersive experience for our VIP guests.
There were roaming as well as fixed performance pieces and so everything had to
be very carefully choreographed and executed flawlessly on the night. We loved
working with the WL team who understood exactly what we were striving to
achieve, no matter how bonkers our ideas were! They really contributed to the
success of our Winter Party and we can’t wait to work with them again.”
