Remembering Richard Pacholski (R2)

We were very saddened to hear about the untimely passing of our good friend Richard Pacholski – universally known as R2 – over the weekend, after a short battle with cancer.

R2 was a truly international member of the lighting community, as a lighting designer, associate designer or production electrician. Based in Australia, he was involved in countless transfers from the West End and Broadway to the country, graciously welcoming and looking after visiting designers while ensuring their work was seen at its very best. From there, he would often take those shows all over the world, Mexico to Manchester, Sao Paulo to Singapore.

That meant you never quite knew where you’d see him next – but seeing him was always a delight. He was adored by everyone he worked with, everywhere, always a fine balance of serious professionalism and serious fun. A pleasure and a joy to work with.

He was a great friend to White Light and to the British lighting community as a whole. He will be sadly missed.

Our condolences are with his family and his friends in Australia, and all around the theatre world.
