Claypaky, in collaboration with Entedi – its official distributor for the United Kingdom – proudly sponsored the Cambridge University European Theatre Group (CUETG), a totally student-run theatre company which has been touring Shakespeare plays in Europe, with Volero Cube and Sharpy X Frame fixtures for its punky, farcical production of "The Comedy of Errors."
CUETG is a student-led theatre company that has been touring Europe with Shakespeare productions for over 50 years. The group's performances are renowned for their innovative and unconventional interpretations of the Bard's works. For their most recent production of "The Comedy of Errors," CUETG opted for a punk-rock inspired staging that highlighted the play's farcical elements.
To bring this vision to life, the lighting designers turned to Claypaky's Volero Cube and Sharpy X Frame fixtures. The Volero Cubes, with their compact size and dynamic pixel-mapping capabilities, were used to create bold, graphic looks that complemented the production's punk aesthetic. The Sharpy X Frames, with their bright and precise beams, provided the necessary punch and energy to match the fast-paced, physical comedy of the play.
"The Cambridge University European Theatre Group's production of 'The Comedy of Errors' was a true testament to the power of creative lighting design," said Pio Nahum, Chief Executive Officer of Claypaky. "By utilizing Volero Cube and Sharpy X Frame fixtures, the designers were able to elevate the production's punk-rock spirit and deliver an unforgettable theatrical experience for the audience."
The Claypaky-supported production of "The Comedy of Errors" toured several prestigious venues across Europe, including the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, where it received critical acclaim for its innovative approach to Shakespeare.
