Located on a wooded hillside overlooking the beautiful cathedral city of Winchester, King Alfred's College was founded in 1840 and today is home to over 5,000 full and part-time students. Teacher training remains an important part of the College's provision, whilst in addition there are a broad range of courses spanning the humanities, social sciences and business. However, the fastest growing area of work is in Performing Arts. The college has made substantial investments in its core infrastructure in recent years including new IT Centres with free access to the Internet and email and a substantial, state-of-the-art extension to the College library.
