Artistic Licence Engineering is exhibiting a selection of its range of lighting control products at PLASA Focus. These include test equipment, data distribution and LED lighting which incorporate the protocols of DMX, RDM, Ethernet, Art-Net, DALI and MIDI on Stand S-D13.Visitors to the stand (S-D13) can discover more about recent product releases including Multichrome-Flex, Flexed-Up and Two-Play XT, as well as Rail-DMX-DSI, LMX6, DMX-Buffer and the latest release, Rail-Pipe HC.
Artistic Licence Engineering Training Days, initiated and sponsored by Wayne Howell, are also being promoted. These have been developed with the intention of sharing the company’s extensive knowledge of current control protocols with the industry at large. The courses cover topics such as DALI, Art-Net and Colour-Tramp, and aim to give an understanding of how each one works, how to get the best results and matters of convergence and conversion between such protocols.
Full details of courses and dates are available from the website at http://www.artisticlicence.com/
Representatives from our sister company, Artistic Licence Integration, will also be present on the stand to discuss their complete custom product capabilities and system design service.
Artistic Licence Engineering Products at PLASA Focus 2011
Multichrome-Flex is the next generation of the highly successful Pixi-Flex – a string of miniature self-contained LED colour pixels - with the added benefit of IP67 rating.
Multichrome-Flex is the only system of its kind at this specification. Durable and weather resistant, each pixel is encapsulated in a plastic housing so its creative capabilities can now be applied to exterior events, concerts, and even architectural applications.
Combined with Colour-Tramp, Multichrome-Flex can display real time video in combination with stunning visual effects.
Flexed-Up is a stand alone controller designed specifically to drive constant voltage LED products and systems, such as Artistic Licence Flexi-Strip. Created with high-end installations in mind and built to European standards, Flexed-Up is the perfect solution for any project that requires complete reliability and control.
Running at 4A per channel and with a total capacity of 12A, Flexed-Up can control up to 10m of high resolution SuperBright RGB60 Flexi-Strip or 20m of RGB30 Flexi-Strip. All of Flexed-Up’s internal self-control modes are selectable via a simple switch and custom shows can be pre-programmed by Artistic Licence upon request.
Two-Play XT is a sophisticated two-universe DMX & Art-Net Recorder and Playback Controller supporting both DMX and Art-Net.
Both Two-Play (Art-Net) and Two-Play XT (Art-Net and DMX) now include KiNet and E1.31 transmission along with improved trigger options; these include ‘wild card’ time, day trigger and specific date triggers. More sophisticated DMX triggers monitor DMX channels and can play back single or multiple shows. Playback can also be initiated via Art-Net macros so multiple Two-Play units can be used ‘in sync’ while being controlled from a central source.
Rail-DMX-DSI is an easy to use unit which expands the already extensive range of Artistic Licence Engineering’s protocol converters to include DSI control. Rail-DMX-DSI converts 4 DMX channels to 4 DSI outputs to enable full integration between DMX controllers and commercial lighting systems.
Designed in response to our customers’ feedback, Rail-DMX-DSI integrates DSI ballasts a DMX system so all building lighting can be controlled via DMX. Lighting states can then be triggered using controllers such as Artistic Licence Sign-Control or Light-Switch, or any DMX controller.
LMX6 is a DIN rail mounted DMX controller for the Philips Color Kinetics iColor range. It has been created specifically to complement the range of Philips Color Kinetics Chromasic controllers by providing a much called for controller for mid-range installations.
LMX6 provides control and power distribution with minimal effort to enable direct control of products using the Chromasic protocol such as iColor Flex and iColor Cove.
Up to 300 pixels can be controlled by LMX6 as it provides 6 data and power outputs, each of which can control up to 50 pixels.
LMX6 requires 2 universes of DMX, with each DMX input used to control 3 outputs. All that is required is an external 24V PSU capable of driving the number of pixels attached to the outputs.
Available at a midrange price, LMX6 is DIN rail mounted making it ideal for architectural or permanent installations and small spaces. LMX6 can be used instead of sPDS-60ca and other similar controllers.
DMX Buffer
DMX-Buffer is an inline DMX & RDM line booster / buffer with a choice of Ethercon or XLR connections. Perfect for those times when you need more distance than the maximum 300m, or more than 32 devices on a single DMX cable.
DMX-Buffer RJ45 has Ethercon connectors allowing easy use of Cat5 cable. Cat5 cable is familiar to most electricians and is easily accessible. DMX-Buffer is perfect for simple jobs when you don't want to use a DMX splitter and, in combination with Cat5 cabling, helps keep installation costs to a minimum.
DMX-Buffer XLR uses standard 5 pin XLR connectors. This provides a more rugged, robust option that is ideal for touring purposes.
Both benefit from that rare commodity of full RDM support so not only can you control your DMX fixtures, you can also configure them from a further distance.
Housed in a protective metal case and powered from a standard 9V PSU with a DC jack connector, installing and using DMX-Buffer could not be more simple. In all, DMX-Buffer gives you peace of mind as a cost effective means of extending a DMX cable or increasing the numbers of fixtures without affecting performance.
Rail-Pipe HC is a six channel, high current, constant voltage controller for passive LED fixtures.
Redesigned in response to customers’ growing requirement for a more powerful LED controller, Rail-Pipe HC runs at 20amps (@12V) split across 6 channels.
Rail-Pipe HC has two outputs, each with three channels for easy RGB connection which allows independent control over two sets of Artistic Licence Flexi-Strip.
This means that Rail-Pipe HC can now control longer lengths of this innovative LED strip, as follows:
20m x Flexi-Strip RGB60
40m x Flexi-Strip RGB30
20m x Flexi-Strip Cool White60
20m x Flexi-Strip Warm White60
Rail-Pipe HC is DMX compatible and forms the perfect mid-range partner to Artistic Licence Engineering’s stand-alone Flexed-Up controller and its high-end Art-Net Ethernet controller, Art-Pipe.
