Coemar, Robert Juliat Win, Prism Commended at 2010 PLASA Awards for InnovationThe White Light Zone at PLASA 2010 – hosting the many companies for which White Light is the exclusive UK distributor - was the place to see some of the most innovative products in lighting. Two products displayed in the Zone were winners of the 2010 PLASA Awards for Innovation, and a third was specially commended by the award judges.
Launched at the show and an award winner was Coemar’s Reflection FullSpectrum, a new design of LED washlight that offers an interchangeable LED lightsource that directs light from a unique configuration of LEDs onto a parabolic reflector. This optical design eliminates problems common in other LED fixtures, including visible RGB dots and multi-coloured shadows; it also allows the light source to be moved relative to the reflector, giving a smooth zoom from 18 to 37 degrees. Drawing just 190W at full-output, Reflection offers a light output comparable to 500 to 750W halogen fixtures. The fixture is available in Full Spectrum RGB colour-mixing and VariWhite variable white versions.
Introduced earlier in the year but winning an award on its first PLASA appearance was Robert Juliat’s Aledin, an LED profile spotlight that looks, feels and operates just like Juliat’s traditional tungsten LED spotlights. “Robert Juliat’s usual high standards have not been compromised in the search for a useable LED profile spot”, the award judges commented. Aledin uses an 85W white LED source with smooth fading and giving a low temperature at the gate – gobos can even be made of paper! The LED source can also be retrofitted to many existing Juliat tungsten fixtures.
Commended by the judges was the RevEAL CW colour-mixing LED washlight from Prism Projection, cited for its “notable colour rendering, particularly in the natural and pastel colours, which makes it viable for use in the theatre.” Uniquely, the RevEAL also self-monitors its output, ensuring that colour and intensity are consistent both from fixture to fixture and over each fixture’s working life. Though only commended on this occasion RevEAL already has a clutch of awards, having been named Best Debuting Lighting Product at LDI2009, Live Design magazine Lighting Product of the Year, and Best New Lighting Product at ABTT2010.
All three products advance the state of the art in LED performance lighting, making it easier than ever to take advantage of low-energy lighting without compromising on the details and subtlety of creating lighting design. They are all available now from White Light.
