Three new team members join Martin UK. Paul Cox, David Stewart and Matthew Pitman have joined Martin UK in 2008. Their wealth of experience will undoubtedly contribute to Martin UK’s continued growth and innovative product development.Paul Cox, 51 joins Martin in the capacity of Architectural Lighting Consultant with more than 25 years in architectural sales experience, and moves from Kreon Architectural Lighting, where he held the position of General Manager of UK operations.
Paul, who has an adoration of techno music and fitness, says his focus will be across the full range of architectural installations.
“Martin has a great architectural product line – second to none. There is no one else out there with the quality or range. We really have products that make people’s jaws drop, like the smartMAC for example. It looks good and does what it says, and people just love it. I am really looking forward to the coming challenges.”
David Stewart, who joins Martin as Lighting Consultant in the Show Segment liaising with end clients, first got into lighting while at school and, with his father's persistence, was thrown into the deep end at the age of 16 doing work experience at the Shaftesbury and Cambridge theatres in the West End.
Over the next 20 years David honed his theatre lighting skills both in-house and on the road, but soon discovered there was more money in corporate & live events and worked on Montreux Jazz Festival, Oasis UK Tour, and Barcelona Olympics to name a few. In this time he has managed to familiarise himself with just about every fixture out there.
On the side, David is a keen photographer and you might recognise his name on some great photos in industry magazines.
“I am really looking forward to working with maintaining Martin’s renowned support and its quality product range.”
Last but by no means least, is Matthew Pitman, who joins the company as Lighting Consultant in the TV/Theatre Segment liaising with end clients. He is a keen master in Brazilian martial arts. His experience in theatrical lighting far exceeds his years, cutting his teeth at a small local theatre but then soon moved into the West End and toured as a technician and then deputy chief electrician with shows like the Phantom of the Opera, Saturday Night fever and Miss Saigon.
Matt comes to Martin from the National Theatre where he was programming shows and assisting the lighting designers. When asked about the challenges he is looking forward to in the coming year, Matt said.
“The theatre industry is facing ever increasing noise restrictions, budgetary confinements, health and safety rules and diminishing amounts of time to create great lighting results. I'm really looking forward to establishing an even more solid and direct liaison between the TV/theatre markets and Martin to overcome these challenges.”
There is no doubt that such a collective experience from these industry hardened men will go a long way in keeping Martin customer focused and application based in its pioneering product development.
