Stage Electrics demonstrated they are more than just a lighting company at the recent Showman’s Show. Their award winning stand was full of interested visitors keen to check out the brand new Bumper Cars on Ice, on a real ice rink together with the smartStand 45 and smartStage 122. The Stage Electrics stand also attracted the interest of the show organisers and was awarded First Place in the category ‘Exhibition Stand of 20 metres frontage to below 30 metres’.A record 5010 visitors flocked to the Showman’s Show this year and despite the wettest summer on record those that attended were blessed with sunny weather. The Showman’s show is the only outdoor show of its kind in the UK and has in excess of 400 exhibitors showing the most sophisticated structures, equipment and entertainment demanded by the event industry at large.
Ian Tregaskis Head Of Events for Stage Electrics reflects “the sun may have shone during the show but the night before the rain was torrential, the efficiency of our aluminium fold out ice rink system coped easily with the excess water and the rink was frozen solid on Wednesday morning. The ‘real’ ice rink came as a surprise to many visitors” continued Ian “You could see on the faces of visitors as they walked by that they weren’t quite sure, it was only when they touched the ice they believed it was real.”
The joystick controlled Bumper Cars on Ice launched at the show are exclusive to Stage Electrics in the UK and Europe and are suitable for drivers ages 7 and up. Cars can spin 360 degrees to go in all directions to pursue their targets backwards, forwards and cannot be boxed into a corner. During the show Stage Electrics held a series of Bumper Car Challenges including Bumper Racing and Bumper Football “The cars work well on both a real and synthetic rink continues Tregaskis and add that extra something to an already existing attraction, people were queuing throughout the show to give them a spin. Winners of the Stage Electrics Bumper Car Challenge were the BIG TV Team who outclassed the ‘Security Team’ - their stilettos in this case obviously not hampering their driving performance and much to the frustration of the security team captain.”
The regular demo’s of the smartStage 45 and smartStand 122 also attracted the crowds who were very impressed with the short set up times and simple construction. The smartStage 45 is a stage trailer with characteristic lean to roof and a set up time of 30 minutes. It offers a tandem axle and overrunning brakes and the roof is lifted using an electro-hydraulic system with remote control. The stage conforms to the temporary demountable guidelines of 5kM/m².
The smartStand 122 is a covered stand module seating 122 on a container chassis, perfect for sports, fetes, shows and presentations and can be installed in less than 60 minutes. The strong steel construction is supported by hydraulics and offers the same remote electro hydraulic as the smartStage. The roof and back wall conform to fire safety class B1 and the tarpaulin roof provides protection from the weather.
“We haven’t exhibited at the show for the past few years” concluded Tregaskis “but we were particularly pleased by the level of interest, it was a perfect opportunity to demonstrate our new and exciting products to such a wide audience, proving we are more than just a lighting company.”
